Source: Sox swapping Dye for Reds' Bailey

Sunday, December 7, 2008

A source told the Dayton Daily News that the White Sox and Reds have completed a swap involving Jermaine Dye and Homer bailey. Minutes later another source told the Chicago Tribune that there's been no Jermaine Dye-for-Homer Bailey trade agreed to between the Reds and White Sox. The Tribune reports that the White Sox would want more than Bailey in a deal and the Reds have concerns about absorbing Dye's entire salary. The Reds might be able to sign Pat Burrell for about the same 2009 salary as the $11.5 million that Dye is due.
